Meet The Maker

I’m Ian

IH Jewellery designer & maker.

While at school I discovered I enjoyed working with metal, particularly at the forge, back in the days of fully equipped workshops. On leaving school at 15 I wanted to become a gold & silversmith but actually spent my working life in the printing industry.

At home I started making small items in Nickel silver on the kitchen table with limited tools and I soon realised I wanted to learn more, so in the early 1990’s I enrolled on a weekend jewellery making course at West Dean College. From there I set up a small workshop at home and IH Jewellery was born.

To learn more and improve my skill I then enrolled on a two year part time jewellery making course at Portsmouth University. In 1998 I passed my City & Guilds exams in Fine Jewellery with Credit. Since then I have also completed a short course in stone setting.

My sponsors mark (makers mark) is held at the London Assay Office.
